Uzwelo Rural Orphan Care Project

Uzwelo Rural Orphan Care Project

Uzwelo home launched the UZWELO RURAL ORPHAN CARE project in conjunction with a number of other stakeholders In December 2007. The original motivation for this project was the looming AIDS/HIV epidemic at the point in time and the potential impact it would have on children. The purpose of the project was to care for children affected and infected by HIV/ AIDS. The children receive services aimed at empowering them and developing their skills in the family situation. They have a soup kitchen at Iswepe, Ngwempisi, Mdukuzane, Taaiboschspruit, Panbult and other areas around Mkhondo.

The project applied for funding from the Vumbuka Trust in 2019 for cooking utensils/equipment for the project. The trustees approved R15 000 for the cooking utensils for the orphan care project. The project currently helps to feed over 440 kids from all around the Mkhondo rural areas. -Vumbuka Trust let’s make a difference, together.
